Check it Out
This has become my recent obsession. As Matt and I merge finances, it can get pretty confusing. Who is bringing in what? What money is going where? This website links up your income, loans, payments, and bank accounts then analyzes everything and shows you a graph of what parts of your monthly money goes where. It's so interesting. It also has great tools that show how you can save in different ways!!!

Travel Monday - Patras, Greece
The sunny weather (and the possibility of a return trip to Europe next summer) has me thinking a lot lately about Greece.
After a whirlwind trip through England, France and Italy...Greece came right at the perfect time!
We were ready to relax and unwind.
Our day started out when we toured a Greek Orthodox church. Then we went on to have lunch (of course I ordered a Greek Salad and Baklava...Yum!). Once lunch was over we made it to our hotel for a relaxing day on the beach!
We enjoyed a delicious dinner at our hotel followed by an amazing sunset.
"Patras is Greece's third largest urban area and the regional capital of West Greece, located in northern Peloponnese, 215 kilometers west of Athens. The city is built at the foothills of Mount Panachaikon, overlooking the Gulf of Patras.

The Patras metropolitan area is a conurbation of 222,460 inhabitants. The core settlement has a history spanning four millennia. In the Roman period it had become a cosmopolitan centre of the eastern Mediterranean whilst, according to Christian tradition, it was also the place of Saint Andrew's martyrdom.
Dubbed Greece's Gate to the West, Patras is a commercial hub, while its busy port is a nodal point for trade and communication with Italy and the rest of Western Europe. The city has two public universities and one Technological Institute, hosting a large student population and rendering Patras a major scientific centre with a field of excellence in technological education. The Rio-Antirio bridge connects Patras' easternmost suburb of Rio to the town of Antirrio, connecting the Peloponnese peninsula with mainland Greece.
Every year, in February, the city hosts one of Europe's largest and most colourful carnivals; notable features of the Patras Carnival include its mammoth-sized satirical floats and extravagant balls and parades, enjoyed by hundreds of thousands of visitors in a pleasant Mediterranean climate, with relatively cool yet humid summers and rather mild winters. Patras is also famous for supporting an indigenous cultural scene active mainly in the performing arts and modern urban literature; it was European Capital of Culture 2006."

Sleeping on the couch
Only three months into the marriage, and it happened. I slept on the couch. To be fair, I offered to. Matt has been feeling pretty bad since about Friday and decided to ignore the pain all weekend. Finally last night he got a fever and was miserable. I slept on the couch. After all, we did say the whole "in sickness and in health" thing. This morning a quick trip to the Urgent Care center showed that Matt had an ear infection and strep throat. Yuck!

Sister Weekend
Sister weekend kicks off in t-minus 2 hours! I'm so excited because we never get to spend time together with just the 5 of us. Once Alex goes off to PSU in the fall we literally don't get to see her until Christmas time, and even that is cut short because of bowl games. It's a great way to bring an end to the summer, having an entire weekend with just us (and Matt gets to tag along, of course..haha). We have some fun things planned for this weekend...Live on the Levee and taking the boat out tonight, a little shopping tomorrow, and definitely some good food thrown in there! I'm so excited for this weekend, I can't wait for them to get here!

Nothing new
Nothing terribly exciting going on these days. Matt works all day, I've been working at David's still all day...then we eat, sleep and occasionally take the boat out. I'm totally fine with this. Finding the excitement in everyday life...I guess that is what the first year of marriage is all about!
(Also I'm thinking I could have an entire blog devoted to stories from work. It would be the funniest thing you've ever read.)

Lessons
There should seriously be lessons for wakeboarding. Other than this...
Matt got a wakeboard the other day and just knew that he'd be able to get up on the first try. Haha...right
Originally I was only going to know how to drive the boat for emergency purposes. I guess Matt wanting to learn how to wakeboard has become an emergency. In all seriousness though, I'm glad that we've been able to go out on the boat, just me and him and I've been able to practice driving while he's practiced wakeboarding (as in trying to get up).
It looks nearly impossible...then just when I look over my shoulder and see that Matt is almost up, I can feel him let go of the rope. We need someone with experience (that has done more than watch youtube videos) to help us out with this one! We look like fools out there on the water, and I'm sure everyone that rides by (seriously I've seen like 5 year olds waterskiing, wakeboarding, tubing, etc.) gets a good kick out of two adults (ew, did I just really call us adults?) out in the middle of the water not knowing the first thing about what they are doing!
