The next week, my blog posts are going to go back in time a bit as I blog each day about what we were doing a week ago (on our honeymoon). Again, the memories are never going to be as fresh as they are right now, and in a few years when our honeymoon has run all together, I want to be able to look back and see what we did each day.
Today has been pretty low key. Our flight last night was supposed to get in to Charlotte at 8:30pm then our connecting flight to Charleston was supposed to be at 10:25pm. 2 hours would have been plenty of time to catch a connection. Then the weather decided to ruin everything.
Our flight left late from Antigua so we didn't touch down in Charlotte until 9pm. We sat on the plane for a little over an hour as the weather started getting bad so they were stopping any movement of the planes.
Around 10:15pm we were going through immigration and on to baggage claim. Thinking we had 10 minutes to catch our flight, we were in a bit of a panic. We sat at baggage claim for a little over an hour more. In this time our flight was removed from the board (we thought for sure we had missed it and would be looking for a hotel in Charlotte) then it came back up as delayed until 11:30pm and finally delayed until 12:30am. At least we were hopefully not going to have to spend money on a hotel room (the airline won't pay for a room if the missed flight is weather related). Anyways...we got our luggage around 11:30pm, made it to our gate around 11:45pm...long story short, we ended up eating dinner around 12am, and our flight switched gates...kept getting delayed and we finally made it to Charleston, WV after 2am...waited for luggage (that didn't make it home) and finally walked in to the apartment after 3am.
Needless to say, we needed today to recover.
It started with a trip to Wal-Mart to grab the necessities that were in our checked luggage and we needed for the day (mainly deodorant, makeup, toothbrushes...etc).
I got my Sunday paper, clipped coupons, looked over some sales ads and it all paid off when a whopping $40+ came off of our big grocery bill at Kroger.
Not sure what inspired me, but I decided to tackle Chicken Cordon Bleu for dinner. It turned out amazing (details to come on a later post).

Ok...this time last week we were enjoying the first day of our honeymoon.
We started off the morning with an orientation to the resort and the island.
Here are some morning pictures of us walking to orientation.
Orientation ended at 10:30am and we then went straight to breakfast which we finished at 11:30. By the time we got into bathing suits and ready for the day we only had about 3 hours before we had to catch a shuttle to Shirley Heights for a cookout. We decided to stay at the resort and enjoy the beautiful pools for a few hours.
Matt managed to get a solid sunburn in those few short hours (even with wearing SPF 30). I looked like I hadn't even been in the sun. I made up for that by the end of the week.
We got ready and headed to Shirley Heights for dinner and to listen to steel drum and reggae bands. We were supposed to see an amazing sunset but it managed to get overcast right in time to cover up the sunset. It was still prime people watching and we had a lot of fun.
