Travel Monday - Excitement is building!

I'm pretty sure the topic of traveling has become a constant in our marriage.  Every day something comes up and we mention our trip!

This is BIG my friends...BIG!

Ever since I can remember, Matt has always said that the only way he would travel some place far away was if it were for a beach...vacation...relaxation...I get it, I get it...

I also was the one who always said if I was going to travel it would be some place with history and art so I could spend all day immersed in a new culture, exploring and taking things in.

When we first started talking about our honeymoon I saw it as the perfect opportunity to get Matt to Europe...he saw it as the perfect opportunity to get me to a tropical beach for a week of relaxing.

Ok...so Matt won this one...

Clearly I won too...
(P.S - get me back on that boat with one of those drinks...asap...thanks)

Anyways...now here we are, almost a year later (what?  yeah...do the math...) and we find ourselves planning that trip that I have DREAMED of...

Last night Matt and I went shopping (ok, I shopped all day and Matt met me at night after he was done golfing...rough life we're living, I know...)

What were our big purchases?

Target travel aisle got me good...they had a lot of stuff that I've been eyeing on clearance! Matt had the chance to get a new pair of kicks (which I quickly exclaimed "those will be GREAT for Europe") and he got some new shirts too...

Bottom line, this trip is so close I can almost feel the hustle of the airport, and the foreign languages, and the gelato, and the straight-from-a-horror-movie hostels.

This was my most exciting travel purchase today...

*A side bag for sight-seeing around a city.  This is useful for those days that you don't have all of your luggage on your back and you're going to be gone from your hostel/hotel for the entire day.  You want it to fold up pretty small so it doesn't take up too much space in your luggage.  Also you don't want a back pack or a purse (unless you plan on wearing your small backpack on your stomach - like I did my first trip to Europe) because you want to be able to see your stuff at all times and a regular purse can 1) get heavy and 2) be easy for a pickpocket to slice the bottom and get all of your stuff.

Evidence - on top of the eiffel tower - one of the pics I forgot to take off my backpack...I kid you not, I walked around Europe for over 2 weeks like this...that's why I went with a side purse (satchel?) for this trip!  Make fun...I can laugh at this too!

4 months from now I'll be in Europe!  Yikes!   :)
