Travel Monday Part 1

Last weekend we were in PA, not only for a PSU game, but also to help my little sister celebrate her 21st birthday!

Here is a quick re-cap from the game!

It was a cold one to say the least, but we had SO much fun in the snow!  Yes, that is a picture of a snow plow taking care of the parking lot that we were tailgating in!  Thanks again, Aunt Sue and Uncle Jay, for taking the RV in for us to tailgate in warmth!

Baking

Like any day before Matt and I travel, I've created a to-do list a mile long to prepare.

I have to run a few errands followed by the gym and rounding off my day is laundry, packing and a little baking.

When these came up on my PINTEREST account, I knew I had to make them for our PSU/Halloween tailgate this weekend.  I made a quick call to my sister (who I know recently purchased isomalt) and told her we had to tackle these babies!

Also planning on making a little Halloween Candy Corn Bark.  After all, what's Halloween if you don't O.D on sweets?

Last night when I should have been here working on a blog post for today, I was instead over HERE working on changing the header for my sister's blog!

I'm pretty happy with the new change and think it looks good for someone who doesn't really work with technology that much (am I the only person out there that doesn't have a smart phone?).

Regardless...today was pretty ordinary around here...except for the bill we got for winterizing the boat...

Ouch!

Oh well, we knew what we were getting ourselves in to!

Recipe

Last night I decided to try out Creamy Orzo Risotto with Butternut Squash.

Problem #1) I had no idea what orzo was
Problem #2) I had no idea what risotto meant
Problem #3) I had never bought a butternut squash
Problem #4) I walked into the grocery store before solving these problems...

My trip started with a phone call to Matt...

Me "Matt are you at home"
Matt "Yeah, why"
Me "Can you google...what the h*** orzo is"
Matt laughing "yeah..."
Me "I swear the picture looked like rice and I've been up and down this d*** aisle 100 times"
Matt "It's pasta"
Me "S***"

Clearly I was in a great mood...after finding all of my ingredients - I almost had to make another call to Matt and ask how in the world you're supposed to know if a butternut squash is ripe...I guessed.

Bottom line, the recipe turned out great.  Not very filling, probably because there is no meat.  Since I had just gone to the gym it made me feel good eating it!  Originally I got the recipe from weight watchers, but I linked to another one that was easier to find!

Travel Monday

A few months ago (right after we got married) I mentioned that Matt and I were going to tackle 50 states in the first 50 years of marriage.

The other day Matt and I laid the ground rules...

1) It doesn't count if you just drove through.
*Like the trips we've recently made that had us drive through Maryland and Delaware

2) It doesn't count if you flew into an airport in that state.
*Like our recent layover in Atlanta.

3) It doesn't count if you were making a long trip and just stayed the night in a hotel on the way to your actual destination.
*Like our night in Charlotte, NC on our way to Hilton Head.

We are 4 days shy of being married for 5 months, and I'd have to say that in the last 5 months we've put a pretty big dent in the whole 50 states in 50 years challenge!

State #1
Virginia - where we were on the day we got married, and where we have visited numerous times since then!
Taken at Libby Park in Downtown Richmond, VA

State #2
West Virginia - Where we drove to 2 days after the wedding, and now live.
Taken on the Kanawha River in Charleston, WV.

State #3
South Carolina - Annual Summer Vacation with the Mantiply Family!
Taken at Hilton Head, SC - July 2011

State #4
Pennsylvania - of course, for the annual football celebrations cheering on the Nittany Lions!
Taken Labor Day Weekend - September 2011 at our PSU tailgate!

State #5
Florida - A whirlwind weekend at Universal Studios!
Taken at Universal's City Walk - October 2011

New Favorite Colors

I made two Essie purchases today and I love both of them!  Also Matt tends to make fun of me when I wear certain nail polish colors (like the one I have on now) so I took advantage of him shopping with me today and got his opinion on them.  He approves...haha

The first one is Buy Me A Cameo
and the second one is Berry Naughty
